Lesson One: ACCOMPANIMENT - We start with backing up your singing and an introduction to basic fingerpicking, learning to play lots of rhythms and patterns (waltzes, ballads, fast tunes, etc.). Lesson Two: FINGERPICKING BLUES - Fingerstyle was the technique of many great blues players, including Lightnin' Hopkins, Brownie McGhee, Elizabeth Cotten, Mance Lipscomb and others. This is a chance to learn some of their licks, patterns and techniques. Tunes featured include: Spike Driver's Moan, Hesitation Blues, John Henry, Betty and Dupree and more.
Lesson Three: COUNTRY FINGERPICKING - We stay in the easy first position chords, learning to play backup and lead in the styles of Doc Watson, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and others. Tunes featured include: Nine Pound Hammer, The Wreck of Old 97, Careless Lov, Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arm, Wabash Cannonball and more.
